READ ME FIRST!!
We at Golden Triangle want you to get the most from your TimesTwo purchase, so please read through this document carefully BEFORE you update TimesTwo. If you do have a problem with the update (or anything else), do not hesitate to contact us at the phone number, FAX or address listed at the end of this document.
The TimesTwo 1.0.3 Updater is an application that updates TimesTwo from earlier versions to 1.0.3. Version 1.0.3 provides several new features.
NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.0.3:

• The TimesTwo™ Extension automatically mounts removable media like SyQuest and Bernoulli cartridges and Magneto-Optical devices (please see the section “Increased Support for Removable Media” in the TimesTwo Addendum for more information and instructions on installing the Extension).
• Automatic free space adjustment (please see the section “Understanding How the Finder Reports Space Used and Space Available” in the TimesTwo Addendum for more information).
• Greater flexibility for “Hot” installations — Users of automatic compression utilities such as AutoDoubler and More Disk Space no longer need to decompress files before installing TimesTwo as long as there is at least 10% free space on the hard disk.
Please see the TimesTwo Addendum which is included in your update package for additional information on the new features in version 1.0.3.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Restart your Macintosh while holding down the Shift key to disable your Extensions. [System 6.0x users should manually disable Extensions (Inits)].
2. If you do not already have a copy of TimesTwo on your hard disk, insert the original serialized TimesTwo floppy disk (not the Updater floppy disk) and drag over a copy of the application. Then, eject the floppy disk.
3. Insert the Updater floppy and launch the TimesTwo Updater application. Select the copy of TimesTwo™ on your hard disk to update and click Open. The copy of TimesTwo™ on your hard disk will be updated to version 1.0.3.
4. Launch TimesTwo™ from your hard disk, select the disk to update and click Update. (If you have more than one TimesTwo disk, repeat this procedure for each disk.)
5. Insert the original unlocked TimesTwo floppy disk and drag the updated copy of TimesTwo™ from the hard disk back to the floppy disk. Click OK to replace the older version of TimesTwo.
6. When the update is complete, quit TimesTwo and restart the Macintosh. This completes the update process.
AFTER INSTALLATION

After installation, REPLACE ANY EXISTING COPIES of the TimesTwo application that you have placed on your hard disk or startup floppies with the new version.
IF YOU HAVE REMOVABLES, put the TimesTwo™ Extension into your System folder and remove any other removable mounting Extension that may be installed. For more information about using TimesTwo with removables, refer to your Addendum.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER DISK DRIVER, even one that does “friendly” updates, on your TimesTwo disk, or you will destroy all your data. Examples of disk drivers which should not be installed on your TimesTwo disk include Hard Disk ToolKit, Drive7, SilverLining and Golden Triangle’s DiskMaker.
MACINTAX USERS must throw away the “Forms Index” (found in the MacInTax folder) after installing TimesTwo on a drive where MacInTax has already been run. A new “Forms Index” with the correct information will be rebuilt the next time that you launch MacInTax.
TIMESTWO AND SERVERS

If you have TimesTwo installed on your hard disk, you can access other disks over a network or on a server without any problems. In addition, TimesTwo can be installed on AppleShare 2.0.1, QuickMail and Microsoft Mail servers. It also works with Personal File Sharing which is part of System 7. However, this version of TimesTwo can not be installed on an AppleShare 3.0.1 server.
REMOVABLE MEDIA

BLIND VS. POLLED MODE ON ‘040 MACS. Normally, once TimesTwo is installed, blind mode is used to access a hard drive or removable cartridge. However, we have heard reports of problems with some removable media running in “Blind” SCSI access mode on the ‘040 machines such as the Quadra and Centris and we have experienced problems running in Blind mode on Sony Magneto-Optical devices (such as are used by the MicroNet Magneto-Optical drive). Therefore, TimesTwo defaults to using “Polled” mode when it is installed on any magneto-optical drive that uses the Sony device.
If you experience problems with TimesTwo on an ‘040 machine using other devices, please let us know so we can add yours to the list of devices that default to using Polled mode. To force a volume to run in Polled mode, do the following: Run the TimesTwo application, select the volume to be changed from the list of mounted drives and click the Update button while holding down the Command and Shift keys.
APPLE FILE EXCHANGE. If you dismount a removable cartridge by dragging it to the Trash in the Finder while Apple File Exchange is running, Apple File Exchange will behave as if a cartridge is still in the drive. Since the TimesTwo Extension requires that removables be dismounted in this manner, strange behavior can result when using Apple File Exchange with the TimesTwo Extension installed. To avoid these problems, you need to mount a cartridge before running Apple File Exchange and then quit Apple File Exchange before dismounting any cartridges.
INSIGHT FLOPTICALS. We have had problems with this device so please do not install TimesTwo on Floptical cartridges that are to be used in an Insight Floptical device (such as the PLI). Please send in your registration card noting the device and we will notify you as soon as an update is available.
